Who or What Shapes Your Life

This blog covers thoughts, writings, and recommendations on what or who influences your life.

Neuroplasticity:  Thoughts change brain connections

Our thoughts come and go on constantly. Neuroplasticity is the science of the human brain’s ability to change, adapt, and reorganize itself throughout life. Consequently, it is extremely important that our brain is provided with thoughts, treatments, concepts, and ideas for our well-being and success in life.  Our brain reacts in the way it was taught or programmed. It is best that we have thoughts that lead to the best outcomes for our lives.

God and Neuroplasticity

Faith in God shapes and changes life in many ways, especially our behavior, mental state, and human relationships.  Behavior and mental state are greatly influenced by our thinking and attitude.  Over time, repeated faith-based thinking and practice reshape the brain through neuroplasticity.

The teachings of Jesus Christ emphasize purpose based on love, service, and eternal perspective.  All are elements that stabilize, identity, and direct our life.  The very basic commandment to know, love, and serve God and others gives us a purpose of why we are here, what matters and where things are going.  Without a firm purpose people often drift or struggle in life.

Belief in God makes a great impact on change, adapting, reorganizing your thoughts and life.   It is like upgrading your brain (central computer) with a improved disk drive and speed.  Faith gives a framework for understanding life: why you are here, what matters, and where things are going.  Without that, people often drift or feel empty.  With it, even ordinary or difficult moments can feel meaningful.   In Christianity, Christ teaches purpose rooted in love, service, and eternal perspective stabilizes personal identity and direction.

Christianity provides a moral structure with guidelines for right and wrong.  It teaches forgiveness instead of bitterness, discipline instead of impulse, responsibility instead of avoidance.

Only is recent years have scientist been able to trace the electrical signals in the human brain discovering that links between brain neurons can strengthen or weaken.  Physical changes occur in the brain when learning.

Faith in God strengthens the electrical signals handling the struggles of life.  Faith reduces anxiety, and increases hope.  It does not remove hardship, but changes handling the hardship in a better way.  The level of intensity or emotion put into changing habits has a great impact on the ability to change, adapt, and reorganize our lives.  Anxiety pathways are strengthened from chronic stress while positive emotion strengthens the ability to learn.  Trauma especially childhood trauma is very a difficult pathway to change because of experienced intense stress and fear.

For the best results,\ belief and faith in God needs to be lived in a healthy environment.  Fear-based, rigid, guilt-driven faith can increase stress.
